About
For a gentle first leg, the recommended starting point is Minnesund in the south – approx. 10 km north of Eidsvoll station. From the station, there are two routes to Minnesund. One runs on the western side of Vorma (11 km), via Trondheimsveien and Eidsvollsveien on National Cycle Route no. 7. The other is route 177 (14 km) on the eastern side of Vorma – a longer (14 km) and hillier option, but one that avoids most of the traffic noise from the E6.
Alternatively, park in Minnesund and pick up Mjøstråkk directly. If you plan to do this leg as a day-trip and would like to return by train, we recommend that you park / start by Eidsvoll station.
The route from Minnesund to Tangen runs close to Mjøsa, partly along a former railway line, and follows flat, easy and safe terrain ideal for cycle touring. As you approach Tangen, the roads are charming and rural with limited traffic.Tangen station marks the start of a hillier section climbing up to the Stange area and Hamar.
By Minnesund, two great attractions to explore are Smaragdgruvene (9 km) and Mjøssamlingene.
Morskogen Vokterbolig, just before the halfway point, is ideal for a break. This former station building is set in beautiful green surroundings, and has a lawn with benches and also a quay.
