About
The stretch from Tangen to Hamar is a journey through a spectacular cultural landscape in Stange, featuring numerous traditional manor farms and charming country lanes with limited traffic.
As you leave Tangen and reach Ekebergveien gravel road, there is an elevation gain of almost 150 m before the route levels out for a gentle ride towards Hamar. At Søndre Elton farm there is a strawberry kiosk open during the summer season where it is also possible to buy local vegetables and fruit. For a swim, take a detour to Gillundstranda via the turn-off just north of Stange church.
Make sure to stopp at the traditional distillery – Atlungstad Brenneri – where you can enjoy a meal and a guided tour. Another attraction along the way is the impressive Stange church, towering in the landscape. Through Stange, the route follows Vestbygdvegen with stunning views of Mjøsa and its surrounding villages, and the stretch towards Hamar follows Sandviksvegen and Stangevegen. These roads can be busy, but do have a cycle path.
This is a gentle ride, predominantly on tarmac and with a few gravel roads. Suitable for hybrid bike/mountain bike.
