Mjostrakk stage Hamar - Brumunddal

About

The stretch from Hamar to Brumunddal is one of the highlights of the route. It is short (approx. 14 km) and has been chosen as a separate section because of its many attractions. If cycling is the main purpose of your trip, you can easily combine legs 2 & 3 from Tangen to Brumunddal (41 km) or 3 & 4 and go from Hamar to Lillehammer in one day (59 km). We recommend however, to spend some time at one of the museums in Hamar, along the way or upon arrival in Brumunddal.

Starting point for this leg is the trail through the vast park and museum site north of Hamar, where there is plenty to see and do – such as a nationally renowned diving tower, cathedral ruins, large open-air museum, climbing adventure park, and railway museum. We recommend spending some of your day here before embarking on the relatively short stretch to Brumunddal.

The route then follows a gentle trail along the banks of Mjøsa to Jessnes where it continues through a traditional cabin area. Here you will find the idyllic Fiskerhytta Fagervik café, which is open during the summer season. Jessnes beach is an excellent spot for a swim, weather permitting. 
Next are some slightly hilly country roads through the cultural landscape on the ridge by Jevanol and down to Brumunddal. A break at the new Mjøsparken recreational area by Wood hotel, the world's tallest wooden building, is recommended.

The leg is predominantly on tarmac with the occasional gravel section. Suitable for hybrid bike/mountain bike.
